A fixed deposit of LKR 2.5 million has been successfully transferred to the Jaffna Medical Association (JMA) to establish the Late Surgeon Dr. V. Sutharshan Memorial Postgraduate Research Fund. The Research Fund Articles have been finalised, and the first annual research grant of LKR 150,000 has been approved for the year 2026.

This grant will be available from the next JMA operational year commencing in February 2026, supporting postgraduate research projects under the supervision of the Research Study Board (RSB) of the JMA.

In parallel, the Dr. V. Sutharshan Memorial Bursary / Student Loan Fund for undergraduate medical students of the Jaffna Medical Faculty is currently undergoing active fundraising and is being managed by JFMOA-UK, a recognised charitable organisation. This fund aims to support financially disadvantaged medical students through structured bursaries and student loans.

We kindly invite all members to contribute to this meaningful initiative in memory of Late Dr. V. Sutharshan.
